Slapping on some mud!

*** Actually these last few posts (about construction) were written and shared on Facebook. I just wanted to share them here and bring my blog up to date. My blog has been under construction but now I think I'm good to go and if any are following my blog but not through Facebook....your up-to-date now.  

We were discussing how much work the guys have got done. My sister and I were struggling to come up with the start date. Had to have been the 6th judging by all the work that’s been done but NOPE, they started Monday. This is just day 4. Got the rest of the drywall done. Photo on the left is of the other room, where the TV will go and a small refrigerator/kitchen area. Then right photo is down the very short hall. The living /kitchen area will have the neatest….oh wait, I’ll keep that as a surprise.

.... my desk in my little studio apartment.  I know you haven't heard from me in quite awhile. I know you all probably know construction goes that way BUT today some of the things happened that I was waiting on before sharing with you all and before moving in. Today I've started moving things in but I don't want to stumble around boxes. Instead I want to maintain order as I put things away and also I need to know what I can find homes for and what I need to let go of. While waiting the last couple weeks I've been going through storage looking for those things I've cherished over the years and that I must find a place for. It's coming together!

 I know it's been awhile since I updated on the progress of my little living space. While things are happening I struggle cause I have so many things I wanna save and present them as a final "wow, isn't this kind of a neat thing". I've had a lot of help with really good ideas from the guys who are doing the work. I say things like, "Well, I'd really like to do this, but ....." and the next thing I hear is, "We can make that happen." Thus I'm gonna have barn doors for closet doors. I've never considered myself a decorator and I haven't had much practice either, therefore this project has been challenging and overwhelming at times but hmmm, yes I could also say exciting as well. I want so much to have a farm house feel. I miss my home that was sitting on 17 acres.  I'm just trying hard to transform 350 square feet into a peaceful place with a country feel. After a weeks worth of work...

Things are progressing well. Got the flooring down, cabinets in and my peg board framed and nailed to the wall. Who would have ever thought that when I decided to follow through on using the idea I'd seen a few times using peg board that I'd see it used like crazy during a recent trip to the Ikea store. Of course their peg board was modern and the the holes weren't just little circles. Theirs was more of a plastic as well, of course, but I like my pegboard. Peg board like my daddy would have used in his garage. Anyway, as I told my contractor I don't get numbers real well. He told me what dimensions he had in mind for the cabinet under the TV. I agreed, but I couldn't "see" it. I did wonder later if it would take up too much of the very little floor space I would have left after bringing in a small couch, or loveseat, or whatever I come up with, but I dismissed my wondering.
