Getting here
I've been very excited to get the Studio Apartment completed and work is certainly progressing well. It's very hard to get in the car and go, but I'm also over the top excited about the 2024 Cedar Falls Christian Writers Conference I am attending this week.
My trip to this Conference, in Iowa consisted of....
*345 miles
*Approximately 5 hours and 13 minutes
*1 Soda and 2 Hershey chocolate bars
*2 Stops - 1 right outta the gate to grab that soda and those chocolate bars and 1 for a Potty Break and to get gas. (YIKES...so expensive in Iowa!)
*2 sticks of gum, perhaps to keep my jaws busy (?) but those slices were one at a time.
*1 brief rain shower, really, really brief. It was like Hazel and I just ran thru a shower. Very weird.
*An extra almost STOP after I dropped my phone between my seat and the console. UGH! Finally was able to reach it. Stop avoided.
*2 crazy, in a really hurry drivers!
*1 CD - I took a few CD'S but I love, love, L.O.V.E the sound of silence. It was 2 hours before I listened to that CD. Roger Whittaker. He's my traveling companion. He and I did this last year.
*Brief listen to a Christian Radio station. Heard President FDR's radio address to the American people on D-Day, before the invasion of Normandy on June 6. His speech took on the form of a prayer. So moving. Beautiful!!
*A brief teaching on finances. Comparison was made between giving to the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. When things are received and nothing given out there is death. When things come in and going out - there is life. It was suggested having a Financial Gratitude Journal, documenting God's faithfulness in providing.
*Back to that blessed silence for the remainder of the trip.
*Three crosses arranged on a hill in an effort to duplicate the crosses of Galgotha. Very moving!
*Farm, farms, and more farms. Beautiful farms.
*Large homes
*Lack of billboards. (I loved that!)
*286 miles before a rest stop. Didn't need one but SHEESH - 286 miles!
*Speed limit of 70! I'm not used to driving 70. I can't drive 70. That just seemed way too fast!
*Several deer crossing signs and a few deer that chose not to cross at those designated places. Hmm, eww...must of not been able to read.
Been a quick day, started at 2 o'clock but already got lots of information that I know will be most useful. Tomorrow a full day.
Love it!
