...as I find things in storage AND that big storage that I was trying to downsize into a smaller, that has been accomplished. Oh there are a few things that need to come out of it still, like empty tubs and a few empty boxes but for the most part that job is done. Now to get the final, final touches done to my little apartment and hopefully get to my book. Writing and reading - those are my goals. I will slowly go through once again the smaller storage and hopefully go to an even smaller unit. I have to decide what I'm gonna do with all my crafting supplies. I have a TON, an absolute TON. There will be room for some things here with me but not all and I need to decide what goes. I also have some bigger things that might sell at a garage sale. They keep talking about having one here in the complex where I live but it's been all talk so far. The lady at the Peace Pantry (like a Goodwill Store) knows me real well at this point. Almost every day last week I was bringing in another box or two or three of stuff. Anyway, here's some new stuff:
I had this little shelf in storage and I love it to display some of my Mama's mailbox collection. I've added a few to it over the years and that doggie with the artificial plant in the mailbox belonged to my grandmother.
Here is where it sits, below the picture of the birds. Oh and I already shared the bird I added to the picture .... on Facebook.
My sister found the picture below at the Goodwill store just the other day. I was looking for something to hang Tip's lead and Invisible Fence collar on. We added the hooks - just perfect. The picture is of a pickup truck filled with flowers. The rocking chair sits outside my door and the door to the right is a closet door. I put my shoes (and other stuff) in there and I use this chair to sit in to put my shoes on. The chair has followed me everywhere. It's the first piece of furniture I ever bought. I was probably about 20 years old. Now I'm....OLD.
And I had to have a mailbox. A side note: My contractor tried to talk me into ripping the carpet up that is at the bottom of the steps that come from the main floor of my sisters home and to her basement, laundry room and to the entrance into the garage and of course to the entrance of my apartment. My entrance door is across from the garage entrance. He suggested ripping up that carpet and putting some green turf there, he said just like grass and then he would put some stepping stones down and we could install a doorbell and everything. I vetoed that idea, but I do have a mailbox outside my door.
Several months ago I was looking in a resale store and I found the art work below. I fell in love with it and paid a little bit of nothing and hoped I'd be able to use it. Then when my friend came over to help hang things I totally forgot about it. It showed up though and I most definitely found a place for it. I think it's my favorite.
And then a photo of hanging that embordered artwork of mine. Looks so much better than just leaning against the wall.
Tomorrow I hope to dig out some birdhouses I have that I used in the past to decorate with. Go through a few more boxes that are now here and continue to make this small, space - that I love more and more each day, home.
